A lot of kids nowadays were seemingly into popular courses and jobs when they grew up. Most of their dreams are to be a doctor, engineer, businessman, nurse, lawyer, and architect someday. As a student, it was hard to pick and choose college courses so we should be familiarize about our desire course. I know that it was not common for us to hear about Actuarial Science; even some adolescents would not be familiar about it. If you are curious about this course, here are some things about Actuarial Science. “Actuarial Science prepares students in assessing financial risk in the insurance and financial fields through the use of mathematical and statistical methods. They study financial impact of future events and predict what amount of money a policy holder should pay as premium or what amount of return should be given in case of something happens.” (Nucum K. Actuary/Actuaries are how graduates of Actuarial Science are being called. In short, actuary analyzes financial or statistical data or facts. Actuaries are for banking and finance. It requires a student to be good especially in math, calculus and statistics and probability. After a 4 year course and have a job, it also requires a license. You need to have an interest about the requirements a students need. University of the Philippines DILIMAN is one of a well-known university for teaching. It is one of the recommended universities for those whom interested taking Actuarial Science as a college course. Another is Ateneo de Manila, also well-known for mathematicians. Both of them is a required universities for future Actuaries.
